How to read these builds
These are frameworks, not scripts. Each names the king, the core loop, and the pivot points, because reigns are too varied for step-by-step recipes. Learn the idea, then adapt it to the cards you actually draw. All five are tested on the current 9 Kings strategy game build.
1. The Golden Engine
King of Greed. Economy into everything. Open with pure income, keep defenses minimal but honest, and convert gold into the exact answer each year demands. Mid-game, loot a rival for battlefield tricks; late-game, outspend the apocalypse. The most consistent build in the game. Full opener in the Greed guide.
2. The Living Wall
King of Stone or King of Nature. Build one perfect defensive point and dare the years to come. Layer tower buffs, repair effects, and slows until sieges become resource-positive. While the wall holds, your economy compounds untouched. Wins by making the enemy's win condition impossible.
3. The Spellstorm
King of Spells. Stack multiplicatively and delete problems. Prioritize cheap wide buffs, keep the grimoire lean, and loot for effect extenders. The spellstorm comes online mid-game and never looks back. Advanced course in the Spells guide.
4. The Endless Horde
The Imp Raiser. Bodies over quality, pressure over perfection. Protect production buildings above all, send continuous waves, and exploit every weak point. The most fun build and a legitimate ladder threat.
5. The Thief King
Any king, looting-focused. Rush scouting and mobility, identify the weakest rival holding the cards you need, and strike decisively. Every loot reshapes the build, so this is the most adaptive framework: your deck becomes whatever the map offers. The looting guide is the manual.
Adapting on the fly
The best build is the one the current reign allows. If the cards do not support your plan by year 10, pivot; sunk cost has ended more reigns than any enemy. And every build here assumes the current balance, so keep your game download fresh and revisit after patches.
