9 Kings Beginner Guide: Your First Winning Run

New to 9 Kings? This beginner guide covers your first winning run: economy first, card placement, when to fight, and the mistakes that end reigns early.

The one rule: economy first

Every beginner guide for 9 Kings APK should open with this: gold wins reigns. Troops, towers, and spells are how you spend power; the economy is how you make it. In your first ten years, every card that is not answering an immediate threat should be building income. A rich king with a mediocre army beats a poor king with a good one, because the rich king can afford to fix mistakes.

Placing cards like you mean it

Cards go on the map, and the map has opinions. Keep economic buildings clustered where they are easy to defend, push military buildings toward the borders they will defend, and never scatter upgrades across the kingdom where a single breakthrough strands them. Adjacency and coverage beat raw card quality for your first dozen runs.

Troops: fewer, better, supported

New players recruit too much, too early. A small force standing under tower coverage and buffed by one stacked spell outperforms a mob with no support. Recruit to answer what is actually attacking you, then stop and return to the economy. The card combos guide shows what supported troops can become once you learn stacking.

Reading the years

Each year escalates. Watch the enemy composition change: early years punish greed with fast raiders, mid years test your walls, late years test everything at once. When a new enemy type appears, that is the game telling you what to build next. Adapt within two years or the third will bury you.

Five mistakes that end reigns

One: recruiting before the economy exists. Two: spreading buildings across the whole map. Three: ignoring the rival kings until they are too strong to loot. Four: hoarding cards instead of playing them; a card in hand defends nothing. Five: forgetting events. Read every event. The unpredictable ones punish autopilot.

Your first winning build

Pick the King of Greed. Years 1 to 8: economy, walls, minimal troops. Years 9 to 15: mercenaries and your first tower upgrades. After year 15: hunt a weakened rival, loot their deck, and start stacking. Full details are in the King of Greed guide, and the download page has the current tested build when you are ready to begin.

A full reign runs dozens of in-game years, typically 30 to 60 minutes of play depending on your pace and how late you survive.

What ends most beginner runs?

Economy collapse in the early years: over-recruiting troops before the gold engine exists to feed them.
